Job description

4 checks before sharing documents with a recruiter
Use this checklist when someone contacts you about a remote role.
1. Verify the company and the vacancy
Find the employer’s website yourself. Look for the role there, or confirm it using contact details from that website.
2. Check who is writing
Compare the sender’s email domain with the company or recruiting agency’s official website. Verify an unfamiliar agency independently.
3. Watch for payment requests
Stop if you’re asked to pay to secure a job, or deposit a cheque and send part of the money elsewhere. The FTC identifies these as job-scam patterns.
4. Pause before sharing sensitive information
Requests for ID or bank details before an interview are a warning sign. Confirm who needs the information, why, and how it will be collected before sharing it.
Message template — adapt before sending:
Could you share the vacancy reference and confirm which company or agency you represent? Before sending documents, I’d like to verify the request through an official contact channel.
Guidance: FTC job-scam checklist and recruiter warning signs.
Find remote roles in JobRadar and check the employer’s application instructions.
Save this checklist and share it with someone looking for remote work.
