职位描述
Prepare 3 interview stories before your next call
Try this exercise: pick three real moments from your experience.
1. You took ownership
A task was unclear or blocked. What did you decide, and how did you move it forward?
2. You helped someone work without you
Think of a handoff, guide or explanation that helped a colleague continue while you were offline.
3. Something went wrong
Choose a mistake you can discuss honestly. What did you fix, and what would you change next time?
For each story, make four short notes using STAR:
• Situation: What was happening?
• Task: What was your responsibility?
• Action: What did you personally do?
• Result: What happened, and what did you learn?
Fictional example — a support handoff
A customer issue was still unresolved as my shift ended. I needed the next teammate to continue. I documented what I had checked, the open question and the next step. The teammate continued the investigation; I learned to include an explicit next action in handoffs.
Use your own facts. Practise explaining the story naturally and be ready for follow-up questions.
Method: National Careers Service STAR guide.
Find a role in JobRadar, then choose a story that matches one requirement.
Save this template and share it with someone preparing for an interview.
